WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a form of permanent makeup, also referred to as cosmetic tattooing, micro-pigmentation, eyebrow embroidery, feather brows or 3D brows.  It is the procedure of placing colour into the dermal layer of the skin. Pigment is implanted using tiny needles to mimic hair where it is lacking in eyebrows or scalp. Tiny strokes of colour are created to resemble fine hairs that create a more desirable brow shape.

WHAT IS AIRY POWDER BROW?

A Powder/Ombre brow is a form of permanent makeup that gives a similar effect to wearing powder or pencil on your brows.  The procedure is performed using a micro-pigmentation machine. The results tend to last longer than microblading as the pigment is inserted deeper than the manual method of microblading and is best suited for individuals with oily skin or little to no brow hair.

3

WHAT IS HAIRSTROKE WITH MACHINE TECHNIQUE?

Hairstroke technique has a similar look to microblading however its done by using a small tattoo machine. Where microblading has some limitations with skin texture and the size of pores, hairstroke technique is suitable for almost all types. It offers long lasting results.

WHAT IS WATER COLOR LIPS?

Water Color Lips is a Semi Permanent Tattoo service that enhances the natural beauty of your lips. We maintain your natural shape while slightly pushing the boundaries of where your color has once faded from. We can not over draw your lips but having this service done will add the appearance of volume. It can be done alongside filler or as an alternative to it.

F&Q

5

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY COSMETIC TATTOO APPOINTMENT?

Do not drink alcohol, ibuprofen or caffeine 24 hours before your appointment.  This can cause excessive bleeding.

You can wear makeup to the appointment if you prefer.  All makeup will be removed from your brows before we start.

Women should not book their appointment during their menstrual cycle as the body is more sensitive during this time causing the procedure to be more painful

7

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE LAST?

The appointment generally takes 2-3 hours from start to finish. This is not a rushed procedure and we ensure ample time is allotted.

8

COSMETIC TATTOOING... DOES IT HURT?

Some clients describe feeling minimal pain and discomfort comparable to threading or waxing; while others report feeling barely any pain at all.  The amount of pain will depend on the client's pain tolerance and body's reaction to anesthetic. We use two types of very effective topical anesthetic. We always do our best to make sure you are comfortable. Anesthetic can be applied throughout the procedure at any time if needed.

9

WILL COSMETIC TATTOOING WORK FOR ME?

You may not be a good candidate for permanent makeup/microblading if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Taking Isoretinoin (Accutane)

  • Pregnant or Nursing

  • Tendency to develop Keloids (please contact me)

  • Botox in the brow area which has altered the placement of your brows (please wait 2 months for the effects to wear off)

  • Under the age of 18

  • Serious diseases that can affect your body's healing process, such as cancer or autoimmune disorders (please consult with your physician)

  • Bleeding Disorders (please consult with your physician)

If you are taking any medications that contain blood thinners or affect your body's ability to heal, please consult with your physician with regards to getting a tattoo.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

We begin by drawing the eyebrow design with an eyebrow pencil.  Measurements are taken to ensure the eyebrows are even and proportional with the rest of the features.  We work with you during this process to achieve your desired look along with the most flattering shape for your face and do not start the procedure until you approve. Pigment colour is chosen to match your natural brow colour and will be shown to you before we start.

Once the eyebrows are penciled in, we draw an outline with a surgical marker.  This acts as a guide while we are doing the procedure.

Once we have the outline, we scratch the surface of the skin and apply the topical anesthetic.  We allow the anesthetic to penetrate and numb the area.  Once the area is frozen, we will begin tattooing.

The microblading needles are dipped in pigment and small strokes are made in the skin. The pigment is deposited under the dermis. This creates the tattoo.

11

HOW LONG WILL MY SERVICE LAST?

Permanent makeup generally lasts up to two years.  The pigment is placed under the epidermis and cannot be washed or rubbed off so in that sense it is considered permanent.  It is often referred to as "semi-permanent" because a touch-up will be required at some point.  The cosmetic tattoo will begin to fade over time.  The longevity of your cosmetic tattoo will depend on many factors such as the colour of pigment used, skin type, lifestyle (sun exposure) and treatment of skin (dermabrasion, chemical peels, etc.).

12

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?

Everyone has an initial sessions and a follow-up appointment between 6-10 weeks after. 95% of clients are incredibly satisfied with their results at this point, however, depending on skin types and if after-care instructions were followed properly, as well as if we are covering up a previous tattoo, some clients need a following touch-up on their initial touch-up. this can be booking by selecting the "6-10 week touchup" as long as it falls within that time frame from the last appointment.

13

CAN YOU DO MY TOUCH-UP IF I HAD ANOTHER ARTIST DO THEM INITIALLY?

Anytime you start with a new artist, it is considered initial session. It will be initial session pricing, as well as requires a full in-person consultation and pre-draw during your session. Photos must be sent to emilyjudithbrows@gmail.com prior to booking your appointment as I need to confirm that I can work over your previous tattoo. If you show up and I am not able to work over your brows and you did not send photos to confirm beforehand, your deposit will be kept as stated in our policies.

14

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS?

Initially, the cosmetic tattoo will be darker and slight redness and swelling may occur.  IF redness and swelling are present, it tends to disappear within an hour. Although the cosmetic tattoo may appear darker initially, it's generally not noticeable to others. You can return to normal activities immediately. There is no down-time.  The tattoo will start to lighten and look more natural over the following weeks.

WHAT IS MY AFTER CARE?

How you treat your beautiful new brows for the 10-14 days after your initial and touch up appointments will ultimately determine their final appearance and longevity. Please follow these instructions carefully for best results:

- For the remainder of your appointment day you must wash Lymph fluid from brow area every 30 minutes with a clean, warmly dampened cotton pad. Make sure to disinfect your hands prior. Apply aftercare balm the evening of your appointment and morning and evening, continuing for the following 10-14 days.

- Flaking and crusting may also occur as the skin heals. Picking or peeling at the procedure area may cause loss of pigment and scarring. Refrain from touching your brows, except when applying aftercare balm. Please disinfect your hands prior to each application.

- Please take precautions that some pigment may rub off on good linens. The pigment will be a few shades darker for the first few days while your brows heal. Please avoid using brow makeup during the initial healing time.

- When showering. please avoid putting your face directly under the stream of water and do your best to avoid steam.

- Pools, Jacuzzis, tanning, excess sweating, facials, Botox, and Saunas should be avoided for at least 10 days after the procedure, or until the procedure area is fully healed. Skin creams and products containing Retin-A, AHA or any kind of skin peel may not be used, as they will fade and possibly distort the procedure area.
